FIRST THANKSGIVING:

We really enjoyed the past few days of celebrating Thanksgiving and seeing friends and family!  Jett partied hard 3 days in a row and was really good even though we strayed from his usual schedule.  He really loves being around people and doesn't like to miss out.

On Thanksgiving we went to my mom and dad's.   It was a relaxing day of eating, pinterest projects, and catching up with the family!

The next day I did a little Black Friday shopping with my mom and sisters and then we went to Andrew and Libby's to watch the 2nd half of the Nebraska/Iowa game.

Friday night we got together with our college friends.  Amber and Mark traveled from Des Moines, Kylie and Rick flew from San Fran, LaBebe drove from KC, and Sarah and Dave live in Omaha.   We were reminded how lucky we are to have such great friends who we can always pick up right where we left off with.  Sarah was recently saying how she feels lucky to have friends that she looks up to.  So true.  I have always been a believer in surrounding myself with people who I want to be more like and we are fortunate to have many wonderful people who we are proud to call our friends!

Saturday was a surprise 80th B-day for Jake's grandparents.  Lyle and Leona are the cutest and and it was a great day.  They make 80 look fabulous!

With Thanksgiving under our belts I have a little more confidence going into Christmas with a little one.  It is certainly a lot more to think about and pack when getting ready for a family gathering now.  Luckily the smiles, laughs, and snuggles make up for any of that extra stress!

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS:

Jett had a great weekend of getting babysat by the Freeman girls while Jake and I went out on Friday night, playing with his Simanek cousins on Saturday, and watching the Packers on Sunday.  Here are some pictures from his fun weekend:

I even got to have a girls night with my sisters last night so everyone was happy!

OUR BIG BOY:

Jett turned 4 months on Friday.  It's crazy to think that we are already a third of the way through his first year.  Time is flying!  Today was his 4 month appointment and he had a great checkup!  Here are his stats:

Length: 27 1/4 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 15 pounds 2 ounces (60th percentile)
Head: 17 inches (90th percentile)

After hearing these stats I think Jake and I were both picturing a future of having to look up at Jett when he is a teenager and we are trying to discipline him.

Here is what Jett has been up to lately:
*Rolling over from front to back and back to front
*Babbling
*Laughing
*Teething (Jett's pediatrician confirmed that it looked like some bottom teeth were trying to poke through)
*Sleeping 11-12 hrs straight each night but naps are hit or miss
*Sucking on his toes
*Eating 7 times a day (5 ounces each time)
*Enjoying tummy time
*Holding his head up really well
*Getting bored with his "baby" toys.  In fact, when we put him in his bouncer or swing he looks depressed so we had to stop at Target after his appointment today for some big boy things.  See the video below (he doesn't look depressed now:).

TUMMY TIME? NO PROBLEM!

For the longest time Jett hated tummy time but recently he has started to like it more and even rolls from his back to his stomach occasionally to do so.

FIRST ELECTION DAY:

I think Jett may have been one of the younger voters at the polls today!

FOMO:

I have diagnosed Jett with FOMO (Fear of missing out).  This kid does not want to miss a thing and refuses to take naps when there are people around.  On Saturday we had friends over for the Husker game and he didn't take a nap the whole day.  On Sunday we went to Jake's parents for lunch.  Same thing, no naps all day (except for the car ride of course).  Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare I asked Tamra if he was tired (thinking that the two days without naps and the time change would be catching up to him) and she said, "Not like the other kids."  I can't really complain because he sleeps great at night and he is happy even without naps but it is my goal to get him better at this.
