MEMORIAL WEEKEND:

We had an eventful and productive memorial weekend...the kind that you can feel good about.  Friday evening we got to see Jake's Great Aunt Masumi from Japan and Jett got to meet her for the first time.  Jett struggled with her name and ended up calling her "sushi" instead which she should take as a compliment since it's one of his favorite foods.  It was great to see her!

Jett also got to play with his cousin Kai who is just a few months younger than him.  They had so much fun at our house after dinner dancing and destroying our basement.  We let them stay up until 11:00 since they were having such a good time!

On Saturday morning I took Jett to my mom and dad's to stay for the weekend.  When I got back to Lincoln, Jake already had a great start to the first weekend project.  Cleaning out the garage!  Our hope is that we now will have enough room to get kids out of each side of each car without door dinging each other.  

We each had a pretty long list of things to do.  My list consisted of grocery shopping, cleaning the entire house from top to bottom (including cleaning out closets, organizing cupboards, cleaning out the fridge and freezer, etc).  I also cleaned all of the baby items (carseat, vibrating chair, swing, toys, pack n' play, etc).  I even got the bottles and pump supplies cleaned and ready to go.   I have to admit that seeing all of that out on the counter again gives me just a little anxiety.  It is so much work to feed a newborn!  

My nesting instincts also made me want to add a few fresh things to the house!

Meanwhile Jake completed a handful of home repairs, finished decorating (yes, he is the crafty one) and installing the chandelier for our baby girl's room, and cleaned out the garage like I mentioned earlier. 

It is pretty amazing what you can accomplish when you are used to taking care of an almost 2 year old and you actually have an extended amount of time to get things done without distraction.  We even fit in a dinner and movie date on Sunday night!  Thank you mom!

Jett had a great time at Grandpa and Grandma's.  We picked him up today and he's been talking about all of the "big trucks" he saw ever since.   He even got to check out a few fire trucks after church on Saturday!

After we picked him up today we stopped by Mema and Papa's for a little while and Jett played with Kirby on the deck.

It felt great to accomplish so much, see both of our families, and to get some time to ourselves.  Now I'm feeling much more prepared for our baby girl which also makes me more excited to meet her.  Oh, and I just got an email that her crib bedding was finally shipped so I'm anticipating finishing her room in the next couple of weeks.  Stay tuned!

6 WEEKS TO GO!

Last week I found out that I won a Mother's Day drawing at a baby boutique.  I think it may have been the first time I've ever won a drawing in my life.  Lots of great stuff for our baby girl.  So fun!

We also took Jett along for our 32 week appointment last week.  He was pretty wide eyed when we were listening to the heartbeat.  It was a good appointment.  Uneventful which is what we want at this point!

On Sunday we had our nephew Hayden's 7th Birthday party.  We went to his soccer game, had dinner at the Simaneks, and then we all went to the park.  Jett had such a fun time with everyone.  

We've been moving pretty slow with the nursery other than getting some work done on the chandelier over the weekend.  My mom is taking Jett this weekend so we can get some serious work done around the house (fingers crossed).  I feel like I am constantly making lists right now.  Nesting is no joke!

Monday I took the day off work to get together with my college girlfriends.  It was so nice to get caught up with everyone and have some quality time together.  Love these girls!

Yesterday Jett had quite the view from our deck.  Construction!  If only we could have this kind of entertainment for him all the time.  It certainly makes things easier for me!

I am definitely growing.  I've been feeling pretty good but it's getting harder to do things like lift Jett in and out of his crib, carry him up the stairs, or drag him away from places when it's time to leave.  Jake keeps telling me I should probably stop lifting him but I'm not really sure how that would go down.  

MOTHER'S DAY:

This week I took Jett out for Fro-Yo for the first time.  I asked him if he wanted to get a treat and obviously he did.  Every day since then he has said, "Mama, I like treat!"  Me too honey...me too!

We had a great Mother's Day weekend!  Friday Jake and I both got off work early so the three of us went to happy hour at one of our favorite restaurants, Issara.  It was the perfect night for dinner on a patio.

When we got home Jett just started walking on the sidewalk.  Instead of stopping him, we decided to follow him to see where he would go.  He walked all the way to the park which is about 10 minutes away (we followed a few steps behind).  When we were at the park I got to witness Jake handling a playground bully for the first time:).  There was a 6 or 7 year old that kept pinching Jett's cheeks and bumping into him.  Then he hit Jett in the face with his stick (not that hard but still not cool).  I didn't see any of this happen but when I happened to look over I saw Jake grab a stick from the kid, break it into 5 pieces, and throw it on the ground.  Too funny.

Saturday we went to my parent's house to celebrate my dad's Birthday and Mother's Day.  Jett got to go on a few tractor rides with his Grandma and cousins.  Although he was a little reluctant at first, he did enjoy it and has been talking about it a lot ever since!

It was a really fun day with the family!  That night we picked up dinner for Mema and Papa and headed to Wahoo for an evening on the deck.  We had a relaxing night and Jett partied till 11:00.

I'm pretty excited about my Mother's Day gift.  I got this necklace with two J's engraved.  It stands for Jett and baby #2 (another J name).

I also got to go out for lunch with my boys at Macaroni Grill.

I feel very lucky to have such a great mom, mother-in-law, and sweet boy who calls me mom!

Not to mention the little girl who will be joining our family in just over 7 weeks!

MAY ALREADY?

I always feel like once the calendar turns to May, summertime comes and goes so quickly.  I hope that isn't the case this year! Jett got to participate in the May Day festivities for the first time last week and he loved it.  His 2nd cousin Katie brought him a May Day basket.  We weren't home but of course we had to retaliate later that night!

While we were visiting the Freeman family, Jett got to get in some good practice for helping with his baby sister with one of Katie's dolls.

I can't think of many things I like better than a beautiful weekend with no plans.  I spent Friday night cleaning so I wouldn't have that hanging over my head all weekend.  Meanwhile Jake and Jett went "worm hunting."  Saturday morning Jake and I split up to run errands.  This included buying plenty of our favorite summer foods for the weekend.  We ate lunch and dinner outside and only left the backyard once to go to the park.

Saturday marked TWO MONTHS until the expected arrival of #2.  We are getting down to the wire!

On Sunday we were up bright and early to watch the runners in the Lincoln Marathon.  It was a great morning for it.

Then we ran home to get ready for church before an afternoon of grilling and yard work.  Here is Jett in his Sunday best!

Speaking of Jett, I have a quick little story.  Apparently he has gathered that Siri (on our iPhones) is some sort of wish granter.  The other day he grabbed my phone, went to Siri, and said (very slowly), "Go outside." Another time he did the same thing and said, "Big choo choos."  Oh, if only it were that easy to get what we wanted!
