FACETIME FUN:

When Jett gets older and we tell him that there was a time that "FaceTime" didn't exist and you could only hear someone's voice over the phone (without the option to see them), he probably won't believe us.  It will be similar to what it was like for us to hear about the telegram when we were growing up:).

We have really loved using FaceTime to talk to family.  But we especially like using it when one of us has to be away.  It's so nice to be able to get a peek at each other whenever we want!  As much as technology has ruined us in ways, there are some pretty great things!

MEMORIAL WEEKEND

We had a great weekend.  I took Friday off and Jake got off early and we headed to Omaha for our first night away from Jett together.  Jett was a lucky boy and got to stay with the Thompson's (Jake's aunt, uncle, and cousins).

Jake and I enjoyed a nice night at the old market.  In an attempt to not talk about Jett too much we referred to him as "he whose name we do not speak." It was good for us to have a night focusing on each other and feeling like our "old selves" again.  We like to think we haven't changed too much from having a kid but it does take a little more work to make time for each other!

We woke up bright and early the next morning to a baby crying in the room next door.  Seemed appropriate!  Then we had breakfast and picked our little guy up.

Sunday we went to my cousins graduation party and then we got to enjoy a nice dinner with our friends Angela, Alex and Eli.

We were too busy to use our new pool over the weekend but Jett is pretty excited about it:

ANIMAL SOUNDS:

Animal sounds are all the rage at our house lately.  So far Jett has made the sound of an elephant, a lion, a dog, and a monkey.  I managed to get a video of our little monkey today:

You will notice that Jake also has his animal sounds down!  When I picked Jett up from daycare today I found out that he had said the word "kitty" for the first time.  I'm not a huge fan of cats and now I have an even bigger grudge against them since Jett said "kitty" before "mommy."  Oh well:).

ALMOST TODDLER IN AN INFANT CARRIER:

I put it off as long as I possibly could but this weekend we finally got Jett a new car seat.  I have been getting funny looks carrying a baby who looks 18 months old in an infant carrier.  Here is a picture of him sitting in his baby car seat one last time so you can get a visual.  It has been quite the arm workout carrying that around!

We had an AWESOME weekend!  Friday after work the three of us went on a walk to the park, put Jett to bed, and then had wine on the deck.  It was so beautiful outside and we felt the most relaxed that have in a while.  Of course we had to get a glimpse of Jett sleeping before we went to bed ( a regular thing around here)

Saturday our friends Sarah and Dave came to Lincoln to see Jake's office and hang out.  We spent almost all day outside listening to music, eating, looking at pictures from college, and just relaxing.  It was the perfect day.  

Sunday my Omaha sisters were in town to go to our nephew Hayden's soccer game but it was cancelled so everyone came to our house instead.  We were feeling competitive and decided to re-live our childhood a little bit....wheelbarrow race, bear crawl race, cartwheels, roundoffs, tree climbing, you name it!  

It was such a great weekend with friends, family, and good weather!  And I will end this post with a video from last night.  Jett was "brushing his teeth" and discovered that he could spray his face (along with Jake's face with the toothbrush).  Funny kid!

FIRST MOTHER'S DAY:

I really enjoyed my first Mothers Day with my boys.  We decided to to stay in Lincoln since I had to travel to KC for work early the next day.  Since we've been so busy lately it was nice to have a relaxing day with just the three of us.

Jake got up with Jett in the morning and let me sleep in.  I couldn't help but smile when I heard the garage door and knew they were probably on their way to get groceries for breakfast:).  Jake made a few of my favorites (chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and strawberries).

It was a beautiful day and we got to spend a lot of it outside.

My mom said over the weekend that being a mom is the best job she's ever had.  Yep, that pretty much sums it up!  Happy Mothers Day to our moms, grandmas, aunts, siblings, and friends!  You deserve to be celebrated!

FIRST HAIRCUT:

Jett had his first haircut this morning by Tona at Headlines.  He looks like a big boy now!

JETT AT 10 MONTHS:

It's getting real that our little guy is growing up.  Jett turned 10 months yesterday and before we know it we'll be celebrating his first Birthday.  He's even getting his first haircut tomorrow!

Here is what he's been up to lately:

*Doubled in the amount of solid food since last month
*Making some animal sounds (elephant and a hound dog)
*Raising his hand (completely random but so polite:)
*Saying the word "hi" when he waves
*Walking around furniture
*Working on his 8th tooth

Last night Aunt Sandra came over and had a sleepover at our house.  Jett loved spending time with her and snuggling on the deck.

Jett also got to have a little play-date earlier this week with his friends Norah and Davis:

A few weeks ago Jake had some professional pictures taken at his new office.  We decided to stick Jett in a few of the pictures since he's a chiropractic kid after all.  We got the pics back this week and it's evident that Jett thought the photo shoot was all about him:

LATELY:

Over the weekend I went to a baby shower for my friend Amber.  Amber and Mark are expecting their first baby in June and we are excited to meet him/her!

During the shower Jett got to go to Addie, Mason, and Hayden's house.  They had fun playing outside!

After that I met Jett and Jake at Josh and Marie's new house so Jett got to have some fun with his other cousins.

We enjoyed the beautiful weather while it lasted.  On Sunday we went to the farmers market, the park, and had dinner on the deck.

On Monday I had the day off and I couldn't have picked a more beautiful vacation day!  When Jett got up in the morning we walked right to the park in our pj's.

Later that afternoon we went shopping for his summer wardrobe:).  Then we spent most of the evening on the deck.

The best part of our day was when Jake got home from work!  It doesn't get any better than that.
