PUMKIN PATCH:

We headed to Vala's Pumpkin Patch today with the Akerson family.  Jett had a great time and it was a beautiful day.

FALL BEGINS:

Happy Fall from Jett!

September has been such a fun month.  The weather has been beautiful and we've been enjoying football, tailgates, parks, and anything outdoors!  It's so fun seeing Jett experience so many things for the first time.  Every little thing is exciting to him.  It's a pretty cool way to live your life actually:).


Something he has been enjoying more lately is going out to eat (a kid after my own heart).  Especially when he gets to order his own meal (a rare thing).  You can tell he feels like such a big boy.

Sometimes we do have to get creative to keep him busy during dinner!

I mentioned football earlier.  We took Jett to a tailgate last week and he got to catch up with his friend Eli Wolf.  They might be 7 months apart but they already know that they have Husker football in common!

He is still the biggest cheeser.  I have no idea where he gets it from (ha) but it definitely makes disciplining hard!

Right now Jett loves patty cake, giving kisses, going up and down stairs, reading books, seeing dogs, playing with everything besides his toys, watching sesame street, watching yo gabba gabba, and dancing.

MANY CELEBRATIONS:

We've been doing a lot of celebrating in the last week or so.  September 4th was our 9 year anniversary.  Jake had a very sweet surprise planned.  We were going out for dinner and he told me that we needed to stop at his office first to look at something.  When we walked inside I heard someone playing the guitar.  We walked into the reception area and I saw one of my favorite local musicians playing a song that was picked by Jake.  The room was set up for dinner and there were candles everywhere.  We had such a great night!

It's not that I need him to do those kinds of things all the time.  But when you've been together for a long time you tend to get comfortable and the surprises and romantic gestures are fewer and far between.  It was so nice of Jake to go out of his way to do this.  I got a good one!

Last Friday morning we found out that our nephew had been born.  Josh and Marie had gone into labor in the middle of the night.  Welcome to the family Korbin Grayson Akerson (Jett is going to have more boy cousins than he'll know what to do with)!

We celebrated Georgia Johnson's First Birthday on Friday night.  Such a sweet birthday girl AND there was a bounce house!

We also had cousin Kai's First Birthday party over the weekend.  Happy Birthday buddy!

Along with all of the other celebrating, Uncle Zach proposed to his girlfriend Brittney on Sunday.  Congratulations guys!

LABOR DAY WEEKEND:

Before I update on Labor Day weekend, I just have to share this picture from a week ago.  My sister Pam and I took the kids to our Grandma's house.  Jett didn't know what to think of all of the entertainment he had during the car ride.  His cousins are very good to him!

Seriously, where has my baby has gone.  He looks so much older lately.

We had a great weekend.  Friday night we got together with some of my high school girlfriends.  It's a pretty rare occasion for us to get together like this and it was also nice for Jett to meet some new little friends too.

Saturday Jett and I hung out at home and Jake went to the first Husker Football game.  It was much more enjoyable in the AC (in my opinion).

Sunday we headed downtown to check out the new Arena/Railyard/Canopy Street area.  It definitely didn't feel like Lincoln.  It will be fun to see the area develop. 

 After walking around for a while we met up with my sister Alli for lunch.  Sunday afternoon pool time was calling our name but all of the public pools were closed.  I started calling some fitness centers with outdoor pools and found one that was letting non-members use it for free all weekend!  Apparently no one else knew about this because there were only 20 people there (and three pools).  It was so much fun.

Monday (Labor Day) we went Mema and Papa's house to help break their new deck in.  And we did just that!  It was such a beautiful day to be outside and play with cousins.

Jake and I decided to enjoy our weekend even more by taking an extra day (Tuesday) off.  We slept in, had pancakes, went to lunch at Chipotle, and then a friend of ours gave us her apartment pool code to go swimming.  We were the only ones there.  So nice!

What a good weekend of relaxation, family time, seeing old friends, and sun!  Here are a few little updates on what else Jett has been up to:

*He can say his own name
*He can kick a ball around the living room
*He injures himself on a daily basis (he is curious and go-getter which is a dangerous combination)
*He loves babbling/yelling (example in the video below)
*Loves walking by himself on the sidewalk but gets very distracted when cars go by (video below)
