JULY UPDATE:

It's been such a busy month and it sort of feels like it didn't even happen.  Jett had a great  3rd Birthday on the 9th.  I left early that morning for Kansas City but Jake picked him up from daycare to take him out to eat for lunch.  Jett told Jake that he wanted to go out for sushi and listen to Panama with the windows down so that is what they did!

For his Birthday he got a lot of new trucks and construction equipment.  He was one happy little boy!  It has been such an enjoyable year with him.  He's learned so much and makes us laugh all of the time.  He's getting more and more independent which tests my patience at times.  It's also hard to keep up with him.  One day he'll be demanding to do something himself and the next day he'll want me to do it with him.  He loves people and having conversations with adults.  He is a pleaser (usually) and a performer.  He gives great compliments.  He always notices if I have a new dress or new nail color!  He gets that from his dad.  Now that he's 3 we FINALLY made his crib into a toddler bed.  I know that was probably long overdue but he never once tried to get out of his crib and has always been such a good sleeper and we didn't want to mess with that.  

I came home from Kansas City the day after his Birthday and unfortunately got in a car accident when I was an hour from home.  It definitely put a damper on the rest of the weekend and now we are on the hunt for a new vehicle.  Luckily everyone involved in the accident was ok and that is the most important thing.   I also got lucky because Jake happened to have the day of work because our daycare was closed.  So the whole family was able to come to my rescue fairly quickly to pick me up on the side of the road.  If it would have been a normal day of him seeing patients I'm not sure what I would have done.  

A few weekends ago we celebrated my sister Sandra's 30th Birthday at a wine vineyard!  It was a really fun day!

Joss had her one year checkup this week and she's doing great.  She weighs 19 lbs 2 oz which is on the smaller side but it doesn't concern me. She has a great appetite and is such a good eater.  She is 30 inches long which is on the taller side for her age.  She takes 3-4 steps at a time but isn't walking around quite yet.  It seems like it will be anytime now.  She likes to bend over and stand on her head. She is saying hi, bye, mama, dada, and making some animal sounds.  She loves to clap when she's excited but she also starts clapping when we are finishing up something that she hates (wiping her face, changing her diaper, etc).  She absolutely loves water.  She has 8 teeth and a couple more coming in right now (one of them is a molar).  Her favorite activity is being pulled around on a blanket by her brother (his favorite activity too).  She is an easy smile but a tough laugh.  She loves her bed.  It is her happy place!

Jake has been in Nashville for continuing education since Wednesday and he will be back Sunday night.  5 days with two little ones is more than I'm used to for sure but we are surviving.  It seems like  you have a bad moments followed by a good moments to make up for it!  Can someone please explain to me why my house is cleaner when Jake is gone?

A 1 YEAR OLD, A 3 YEAR OLD, A 34 YEAR OLD, AND A WHOLE LOT OF CELEBRATING:

I have a lot to cram into this one post!  Since I last wrote we have celebrated Father's Day,  Joss' Birthday, The 4th of July, Jake's Birthday and Jett's Birthday (a few days early).

Some of you may remember that we made a video of Jett's first year of life.  We kind of let the ball drop on year two.  Now that we have two kids I figured there was no way I could make a video for each one of them every year but wanted to find a way to have all of our videos organized in one place and be able to access them easily whenever we wanted.  So my goal now is that each year (from July to July) I will make one big family video.  Of course I have it unlisted on youtube so that not just anyone can find it but if you have some spare time, and want to relive the last year with us, check out the links below.

Chances are those videos are only entertaining to us, the Grandmas, and maybe some friends on maternity leave (ha) but you never know:).  I know Jett already loves watching them.


Now back to the recap!  We went out to Issara for Father's day a few weeks back (yes, this is our place)

A few weeks ago we had a Birthday celebration with Jake's side of the family.  We celebrated Joss, Jett, and their cousin Kieran who all have Birthdays close together.  We went swimming at the Wahoo pool followed by cake and ice cream at the park.

Joss loved the pool but by the time we got over to the park she was two hours past her normal nap time.  Even the cake and presents couldn't put a smile on her face but she did ok.

Jett loved playing at the park with his cousins and everyone got the memo that he loves trucks and construction equipment so he was one excited little boy!

The next day Jake and I got to have an adult pool day with our friends Sarah and Dave.  We were treated to a nice meal at their home first and it was just the relaxation we needed!

To kick of the 4th of July weekend festivities we went out for dinner with the Johnson family on Thursday the 2nd.  It was actually pretty cool out that night and we got to sit on the patio.

Luckily we all had the day off on Joss' actual Birthday which made it easy to celebrate.  In the morning we had a fun patriotic breakfast and sang to her:

Then we opened a few gifts. Jett got Joss a carseat for her baby (and opened it for her of course)!

Later that afternoon we headed to my mom and dad's house for Birthday party #2.

We were celebrating a lot of Birthdays that day.  Joss, Jett, Jake, my sisters Alli and Sandra and Addie and Mason (niece and nephew).

Later that night we did fireworks before heading home.  Jett got to cuddle with Grandma Foy while watching!

On Saturday (the 4th) we went to the Country Club in Lincoln with the Johnson's to swim in the afternoon.  That night we did a few fireworks and then watched the big shows that were happening in nearby neighborhoods.  

Sunday the 5th we headed to a lake by North Bend to hang out with the Wolf family.  Jett rode a jet ski for the first time and loved every minute of it.

Going to the Wolf's lake on 4th of July weekend is one of my favorite traditions.  It is so relaxing and spending time with Angela is always a treat for me!

After our day in North Bend we went to Wahoo to visit Mema and Papa for a while.  It was fun to relax on the deck after three days full of activities.  

On Monday the 6th we took the kids to daycare in the morning.  Since it was Jake's Birthday we had taken the day off and it was nice to have that time to recover.  We got to go out for a nice long lunch at Venue and it was great to have the time with just the two of us.

Later that day we got takeout from one of our favorite restaurants and picked the kids up early from daycare.  The kids sang to Jake (and yes, that is a nectarine with a candle in it...these Birthdays can sneak up on you:).

The kids spent the rest of the night playing with Joss' new kitchen that she got for her Birthday.  

Jett's actual Birthday is on Thursday, July 9th but I have to be out of town for work:(.  I plan to do a post soon with updates on the kids and what they are doing now that they are 1 and (almost) 3.  It has been one great year and we can't see what the next one has in store for us!
