BELLY LAUGHS:

We have been getting a lot of these laughs lately and they are the best!

FIRST FOOD:

Since Jett got his two bottom teeth a few days ago and he is almost 6 months old, we decided it might be time to try some food.  Jett has also seemed really interested in a food for a while now and always watches us eat.  Yesterday we happened to have some applesauce in the fridge so we decided to give him a few bites of it just to see how he liked it.  We think it may have been a little tart judging from his reaction.

Tonight Jake made sweet potatoes in the baby food processor and Jett had a similar reaction to the one above.  I'm sure it will take a while to get used to!

JETT'S FIRST CHRISTMAS:

Jett had a great first Christmas.  On Sunday we had the "Foy Christmas" with my dad's side of the family.  Jett got to meet his 2nd cousin Max who is two months older than him.

On Christmas Eve our family of 3 went to church in Lincoln.  Jett got to open a present from Jake and I before church and he was actually more into it than I thought he would be.  At church the message was about how a baby changes everything.  Couldn't be more true for us this year!

After church we headed to Wahoo to celebrate Christmas with Jake's family.  We had dinner there and then we went over to Jake's grandparents to see Santa.

Jett and his cousin Kai got to open their presents from Mema and Papa on Christmas morning.  Of course they were spoiled!

In the afternoon we went to my mom and dad's to have Christmas with my immediate family.  We ate, played games, and got spoiled again.

With his cousins Addison and Mason:

Jett did well out of his regular routine.  It was actually probably harder on Jake and I than it was on him.  When we got home last night we noticed that he had two bottom teeth poking through.  He must have asked for his two front teeth for Christmas!  Exciting stuff.

I guess it's time to stop procrastinating and start finding a place to put all of these new toys.  We hope you all had a Merry Christmas with your families!

LET THE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATING BEGIN!

We had a great weekend. Saturday we did some last minute Christmas shopping and had to take advantage of this photo op.

 Yesterday my Grandma Marxsen had Christmas at her house.  Jett had a lot of fun.

Someone needs to tell him that you aren't supposed to sleep during present opening!  I'm sure he'll figure that out eventually.

UPDATE ON ALLI:

Isn't she cute?  I think so!

For anyone who read the last post about my sister Alli's surgery, I wanted to give a quick update.

We originally thought her heart surgery on Wednesday was going to take 6-8 hours (which seemed long to us) and it ended up taking more like 12 hours when it was all said and done.  It was a very long and emotional day for everyone.  The important thing is that her surgeon said everything went well.  Alli is quite the trooper.  She was supposed to be on something to make her sleep through the night right after her surgery since it had been such a long day.  But you could tell she could hear everything we were saying and eventually she indicated that she would like them to take out her breathing tube (which they did in the middle of the night).

Alli's pain has been well managed but her main issue the past few days has been nausea. Last night she sat up in a chair and this morning she went on her first walk.  She impresses all of us so much and has a great attitude.   It's definitely not as easy as she makes it look though. Please keep her in your prayers that she'll continue to make big strides and be able to go home soon to finish her recovery there.

PRAYERS FOR AUNT ALLI:

On Wednesday my sister  Alli (Jett's Aunt) will be having heart surgery.  Due to a narrow aortic valve, she had her first valve replacement 6 years ago when she was 14.  She found out last month that it was time to replace the valve again.  She has a wonderful attitude and handles all of this better than most people I know would (especially during finals week in college).    We are praying for a smooth surgery, a quick recovery, and a successful outcome (no surgery again for a LONG time).   Jett can't wait to cuddle with her when she is feeling better!  We love you Alli!

FIVE MONTHS OLD:

Yesterday marked 5 months since Jett was born.  He got to celebrate by playing with his dad all day long while I was in Omaha with my family.  Have I mentioned that when Jake is home with Jett he thinks they need to be playing hard the entire time?  I always feel like I should apologize at daycare on Mondays in case Jett has forgotten how to play by himself.  They have a lot of fun though!

We won't know Jett's stats until his 6 month checkup but we are estimating that he is around 17 lbs.  He   is a lot more vocal lately.  He even kind of yells when he is mad instead of crying.  He loves his jumperoo and he seems to be taking more naps during the day now that he is using more energy.  In bed at night he is moving all over the place.   Each time we check on him he is facing a different direction.  He isn't sitting on his own yet but he does really well in that position when he is propped up or in the bumbo chair.  It won't be long!

We are really enjoying him.  He is a lot more fun than we expected him to be at this age.  When he was a newborn it seemed like it would be such a long time before he would be able to interact with us but that hasn't been the case.

About a month and a half ago my family took pictures on my parent's farm.  It will be so nice to have these pictures to always remember the place that I grew up.  Jett has already changed a ton, but here are a few of the pictures:

RECENT VIDEOS:

Lately we've been noticing that Jett likes to grab our faces when we kiss him.  Jake tried to document this and not only did Jett grab my face, but he wanted seconds:

Jett also figured out how to jump in his jumperoo this last week.  He loved it so much that he burned the skin off of his big toe.  It was worth it for all the fun he was having though!
