The kids have been growing up so much and I always want to remember some of the cute things they are saying and doing right now!
JETT:
One day we were walking past a store and he got a huge smile on his face. He was looking at a mannequin in the window. He said, "Mom, can we go in there and see that?" I said, "Oh, you like mannequins?" His response was, "Yeah, and I like girlquins too!"
Jake was holding Joss after a bath and she was naked. Her butt was squished up against Jake's arm which created a bunch of fat dimples. Jett came in the room and pointed and said, "LOOK AT HER! SHE HAS BUTTHOLES!!"
I know I've said before that Jett is confused by what I do for a living since I work from home. One day I was dropping him off at daycare and he asked if he could stay home. I said, "Sorry buddy, I have to work today." He said, "Oh, you have to work on our food?"
I can see why he would think that making his food is what I do all day since dinner is always magically ready by 5:15 after I pick them up.
He is almost sweeter than I can handle at times. Out of nowhere he will say, "I just love our little family so much! We are so sweet!"
He still loves to compliment and there are times where I can tell that he plans to give a compliment before he even knows what he is going to compliment about. For example, I was changing into my swimsuit one day and he burst through the door when I only had my suit pulled up to my knees. Without thinking he excitedly said, "MOM, I LIKE YOUR.... (I quickly pulled up my swimsuit and he took a long pause and then finished)....SWIMSUIT!"
JOSS:
Joss loves the song "Purple Rain." So much so that whenever she see's anything that is purple, she will yell, "PURPLE RAIN!" Or we'll be looking through a book that has different colors in it and she'll start listing them off, "Pink, black, white, red, and PURPLE RAIN!"
There is a little girl at daycare about her age. I have asked Tamra before if they play well together Tamra said that they don't really play. They just go in a room and talk. I wonder where she gets that from?!
Our neighbor girl was over on our deck recently and she was talking about how she's picky and doesn't really like any foods besides pizza. Joss (who we didn't even know was listening) looked at her kind of wide eyed and said, "I EAT!!!!" And oh my gosh, she does eat. All the time.
Over the weekend I took Joss grocery shopping which she loves. On the way home she said, "More shopping please?" I said, "No, lets take our groceries home and show dad and Jett what we got." After we got home and put the groceries away she came up to me and said, "Shopping again?" I've been looking forward to days like this ever since I found out we were having a girl so I couldn't resist. I said, "Well, I guess you probably need some fall shoes." So off we went. On the way to the store I said, "We are only going to get one pair, ok?" From the backseat she said in her sweetest voice, "TWO??" I said, "No, just one." And again she said, "TWO??" Gotta love your two year old negotiating with you. It was a fun little outing and just in case you were wondering, she came home with two pairs!
Joss does not like any help when getting dressed, trying to go potty, or getting in her car seat. In fact, if she has her pants almost all the way up and I give them one last little tug, she will have to take them all the way off and start all over again. Same with buckling her car seat. It is a great test for my patience!
We are having so much fun with the ages that the kids are at right now. It's easier to take them both places, they both love people, they play pretty nice together, and everything is new and exciting when you are 2 and 4!
Clothes swap (their idea):
We have been on a little bit of a fair kick lately. It started with the Saunders County Fair. After going, we realized the kids were at the perfect age for it!
After our fun experience there we also hit up the Lancaster County Fair. The kids had a great time again!
We went to Jake's cousin Sam's wedding last month and Jett got to experience a hotel stay for the first time (can you say deprived?). He just kept saying how comfortable his bed was. "Mom, come lay by me! This is SOOO COMFORTABLE!" It was also an exciting night because he got the garter and got to dance with all of his cousins!
Aunts Sandra and Alli took the kids to the zoo last month as a Birthday gift. It was so nice of them to do something special with the kids! They had a great time.
It is pretty crazy that September is just around the corner. I am not ready for summer to be over and feel like time is going a little too fast but we've all been enjoying the great weather and getting too be outside more.
