"P-CAUSE I WANNU"

P-CAUSE I WANNU (Because I want to) is Jett's new favorite phrase.  In fact, he had his longest sentence to date the other day including this phrase.  It was, "Pee-eww...I tooted...p-cause I wannu."  I guess that is a good enough reason!

So I only have a few more weeks of maternity leave.   I find myself getting a little anxious with each day/week that passes.  I like my job and feel lucky that I have a job to go back to.  It's just really hard to think about work when you've been focused on other things and out of the loop for so long!  I will definitely miss these days!!

Speaking of missing, we are going to be missing Jake a lot this month.  Last weekend he was gone most of the weekend for work events. Then he'll be gone 6 days total in September for a few different things.  This sounds like nothing to most people.  I applaud anyone who does this all the time.  It's not something we are used to in this house though...nor do I ever want to get used to it.  Lets just say I'm looking forward to October (other than the being back at work part:).

Joss is 8 weeks now and she already knows what she does and doesn't like.  For example, she's completely happy like this:

But as soon as I put something on her head, this usually happens:

And I even bought the comfortable headbands.  Oh well! She is getting a bit more predictable now with sleeping, eating, and everything.  Usually she eats for the last time sometime between 9:00-10:00 P.M and then goes to bed for 6-7 hours (twice I have been surprised with 8 hours).  Then she eats and goes back to sleep for two more hours before eating again around 7:00.  This doesn't happen every single night but it's been happening more often than not.  I will find out next week at her two month appointment how much she weighs but I'm guessing she has almost doubled her weight since leaving the hospital.  Crazy to think about.  

We are looking forward to a fun LONG weekend of catching up with some friends, husker football, and our fantasy football draft party.  Mostly we are excited for Jake to have a day off on Monday to spend at home with us.  It's the little things in life!

TOO MANY PICTURES:

Yes, I am guilty of taking too many pictures lately!  When you have a baby girl who is not on the move yet, it is hard not to snap away.  So this post is going to pretty much be a photo dump.

Over the weekend we did a little swimming.  We dipped Joss's feet in and she DID NOT like it.  At least she got to wear her swimsuit!

FAMILY OF FOUR:

We've just been settling in as a family of four.  I have to say that I really love it.  I thought it was going to be really hard having two kids close together but I am really enjoying it.  We definitely don't have any time for ourselves right now and there are certainly some challenges but it is rewarding enough to make up for that.  Jett transitioned into his big brother role really nicely.  After the first few days I feel like he hasn't skipped a beat.

Joss had her first trip to the Lincoln zoo today.  Jake took a little longer lunch than normal and we met Pam and her kids there.  The highlight was riding the train of course!

I want to make sure I include a few stories about Jett just so I don't forget them.  Every morning he has started saying, "Did you have a good night mama?"   Or after a nap he'll say "I had a good nap!"  And during some of his fake phone conversations that he has had lately he's been talking non-stop about eating sushi.  When he gets hurt he's been fake laughing and saying "Dat Funny" after he's done crying (obviously watching too much Wipeout with Jake).  I love pretty much everything that comes out of his mouth right now.

Joss is getting to the point where she has some pretty content awake time and will lay on the floor and just be happy.  This means that I have been taking too many pictures of her!

BAPTISM AND BIRTHDAY PARTY:

This last weekend was Joss's Baptism and we combined the celebration with a Belated 2nd Birthday party for Jett.  Seriously, combined celebrations are the way to go.  And with our kids having Birthdays the same week, I'm sure we'll be doing a lot more of that in the future.

It was a special day and both kids did great at church and the party.  Phew!

There is a house located on the same property as our church where we had lunch after.  I have to admit that being 5 weeks post baby with two little kids it was so much easier on me not having it at my house.  It made for a much less stressful weekend even though I was still pretty tired after everything!  Here are a few pictures from the party!

Jett loved his cake!  Jake made Jett's cake when he actually turned two a month ago and it was a paleo cake.  I actually thought it was pretty good but Jett (who isn't picky at all) kept saying, "I don't like it."  My mom peer pressured Jake into a real cake this time and Jett's reaction was, "YUMMY CAKE!"  Sorry Jake.  Jett had a great time at the party blowing out his candles, playing with his cousins, and opening up his gifts!

When we got home late that afternoon both kids passed out on the couch.  Poor Jett...he sleeps with his eyes partly opened just like his mom.  Freaky!
