A MOTHER'S DAY POST:

I had a great Mother's Day.  My only complaint is that I got about 2-3 hours of sleep the night before.  But other than that, it was perfect!

First we made breakfast for Mema on Sunday morning.   It was a fun and relaxing morning hanging out there.  I also got a video from our daycare provider  first thing in the morning that she had taken of Jett telling me Happy Mother's Day!  So sweet!

That afternoon we came home and everyone took much needed naps before we headed out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants (Issara).

We haven't attempted many nice restaurants since we became a family of four.  We've eaten out a few times but usually take the "to go" route.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well it went.  We ate on the patio which I'm sure helped the situation!  

You may notice in the photo above that I'm now the proud owner of a "selfie stick."  Great Mother's Day present from the kids:). Now we can take family pictures wherever we go!

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!  The fact that some people don't have moms here on Earth to celebrate with or are yearning to be mothers themselves is not lost on me.  I am blessed today and always.  I have a mom who I admire more than anyone on the planet, a mother in law who treats me like a daughter of her own, and kids who love me despite any of my flaws as a parent!

A NOSTALGIC NIGHT ON THE FARM:

After almost 30 years, my parents are selling the farm.  Not just any farm, but the Londonderry Farm that has been in the Foy Family for 4 generations.  I am not the most sentimental person in the world but when I think about how in less than a month, the house will be going to another family and not passed down to someone in ours, even I get a bit emotional.  I am happy for my parents.  It’s time for them to move to town.  They deserve a new house that they’ve been able to make her own.  And most of all, I will be so happy that my mom has less to take care of.   But when we had one last party on the farm this past Saturday, it really hit me that we wouldn’t be able to do that again.  And that is just sad!

Relatives and a few friends came out to give the house the proper send off.  We had a lot to celebrate.  My dad’s 55^th Birthday, Alli’s graduation from her Masters in Accounting, and of course all of the memories that have been made on that farm.  Stories were told, cigars were smoked, and new memories were made.

I think what meant the most to me was to see how much the house meant to so many people in the family (not just the people who grew up in it).  Luckily I think there is enough solid foundation in the Foy family that we won’t need a house to keep us close.

I had such a happy childhood.  Nothing can erase those memories and this is all part of life.  Onto the next phase!

THE EXCITING LIVES OF A 10 MONTH OLD AND ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD:

Joss turned 10 months yesterday.  I'm not sure if it's harder to believe that she'll be one in two months or that Jett will be turning three!  I would say it went even faster this time around.  Jake and I were talking about how crazy it is that one day you have a newborn and then all of a sudden you realize that they have turned into a little person.  Joss is definitely a little person now.  She tries to keep up with her brother in every way.  Best of all, she likes people so much better these days!  She went through her "stranger danger" phase very early.  I hope its over and doesn't return in a few months.  She will go to pretty much anyone now but of course she wants down right away so she can crawl, climb, and play!  She's working on her 7th tooth (four on the bottom and almost 3 on top).  She is saying mama and papa.  She loves going on walks, being outside, eating, sucking her thumb (she does this immediately when we give her a blankie or put her in her bed), and dancing.   She and I had kind of a moment last week when we were shopping at an outdoor mall.  I was carrying her around and she had the biggest smile on her face and the song "girls just want to have fun" was playing.  The moment didn't last long and shortly after she got super squirmy and my arms started to really hurt BUT I felt like I had a little glimpse into our future which will hopefully involve many more mother/daughter shopping outings and fun girl time!

Last weekend she got to play with her papa Lyle and loved every minute!

Now onto our little guy.  My favorite thing about Jett these days (and really ever since he was born) is how excited he is about everything.  He makes life so fun!  And now that I think about it, if I had his life I'd probably be pretty darn excited all of the time too.  For example, last week on one of the really nice days he happened to be the only kid at daycare and  Tamra took him "park hopping."  They packed a picnic lunch and were outside going from park to park from 9:30-2:00.  Now that is a great day!  And this weekend he got to see so many of his little friends.  Friday night we delivered "May Day" baskets to several of them.  I'll be honest, he sort of had a "what's in it for me" mentality at the beginning!  But once he realized that several of his friends would invite him in to play after delivering the baskets, he was pretty pumped.  

On Saturday we had the Johnson's over to hang out on the deck.  It is really different now that there are as many kids as there are adults.  But it's fun to see how happy the kids are when they are around other kids their age!

Yesterday we got to meet the newest edition to the Wolf family (Grayson).  When I told Jett that Eli had a baby brother he said, "Oh, two Eli's?"  

Back to that excitement I was talking about earlier, there was storm here last night and Jett watched it from the garage.  Jake has been working on getting him to think storms are cool so he's not scared of them.  He ended up staying up an hour past his bedtime because he was so excited about the "booms!"  We had to FaceTime both grandmas to tell them about it!
