EVERY LITTLE BOY'S DREAM:

Much to Jett's excitement, the city has been doing construction on the road right by our house for a few months now.  Almost every night we go down to look at all of the equipment and Jett absolutely loves it!  Can you believe a few years ago I didn't even know what a backhoe was?

 

There are so many pretty trees to look at on our walks too!

 

 

Friday night Jake and I went out with the Excel Chiropractic Team.  We had dinner downtown and then we went to the Larry The Cable Guy/Jeff Foxworthy show benefiting pediatric brain cancer research.  It was a beautiful night and fun to be out.  Mema and Papa babysat Jett and everyone had a great time.

The rest of our weekend was pretty much spent outside.  Jake got some yard work done and Jett got to "help."  I had my 30 week checkup today.  Crazy that I'm now doing checkups every two weeks.  This is when it starts to go really fast.  Everything is going good.  She seems to be making her way to being head down (although I won't believe it till I see it after our last experience).

10 WEEKS OR LESS

At our appointment last week my doctor asked if we wanted to go ahead and get a c-section date scheduled.  I had to have a c-section with Jett due to him being breech.  I thought a little bit about trying a v-back this time for a few reasons but I'm pretty sure I will probably go with the c-section option.  For one, I want to stick with what I know.  If I go into it knowing what to expect, I'm hoping it will be better than the last time.  Second, I have a low placenta this time and if that doesn't change, the doctor would want to do a c-section anyway.  Finally, our baby girl isn't head down at this point.  That could certainly change in the next 10 weeks but those three reasons along with the fact that there is some risk of a uterine rupture (with a v-back) have pretty much made my decision for me.

So July 3rd is the big day (unless of course I go into labor before that).  Once it was actually scheduled I felt a little panicky.  It just feels a lot more real now.  I will kind of miss the excitement of going into labor and wondering how everything going to go down.  But I have to admit it's kind of nice to be able to plan.  I already gave my boss the days I plan on taking off.  Jake already has his schedule blocked off at work.  And we can start making arrangements for Jett too when we need to.  I got a little sad thinking about not being with Jett on the 4th of July (and just being away from him during the hospital stay).  At least we'll be home by his Birthday though.

Last week during the ultrasound we were told that our baby is weighing around 2.8 lbs and looks great.  We also confirmed that she is still a she which is a good thing considering some of the shopping that I've been doing lately.  We did not get any good pictures of her (she was covering her face with her hands the whole time).

EASTER:

In a way, yesterday felt like Jett's first Easter since it was the first one where he actually got into the activities.  We had so much fun with him.  Jake has a family tradition where there are several little "nests" hidden around the house to find in the morning so we decided to do that for Jett.  We had fun getting it ready for him the night before.

When he woke up we greeted him with his empty Easter basket.  Here is a quick little video of his hunt.  So glad we'll always have these memories!

After the egg hunt we went to church and then headed out to the farm to have lunch with my family.  Jett was getting pretty comfortable with egg hunts by this time and he also had a blast playing outside!

In the afternoon we went to Mema and Papa's to get together with Jake's extended family.  By this time Jett was a pro at egg hunts!  It was such a fun day.  And we know this sounds pathetic, but we are already questioning how we are going to handle taking care of multiple kids at family gatherings. Tag-teaming one kid already seems like so much chasing but I'm sure we'll figure it out and we are getting really excited.

A TASTE OF SUMMER:

I'm going to be cramming a lot into this post so hang in there!  I'll start with a few random stories.

We attempted our first time out last week and it went surprisingly well.  The offense was breaking a decoration (by throwing it across the room). The look on Jett's face pretty much said it all. 

As I've mentioned several times, Jett loves Michael Jackson.  His Mema gave him a Michael Jackson shirt and right when he saw it, he did a leg kick.   He loves wearing it with his Michael hat!

Tamra (daycare provider) told me a few weeks ago that Jett talks on the pretend phone a lot and he usually says "hello" and then immediately fake laughs.  Wonder where he would be getting that from!  Then last week I was talking to my sister and as I was pacing around the living room (like I often do when I'm on the phone), I noticed a little shadow behind me copying pretty much everything I was doing and saying.  He's such a sponge right now!

On Tuesday I took the day off work to go shopping with my mom and sisters.  We usually try to do this every year around my mom's B-day and it is something I really look forward to.  Quality time with these ladies is always appreciated!

This week we got a little taste of summer.  The park is becoming our new best friend.  I started noticing that when Jett would see other little kids he would say "hi" followed by pointing at me and saying "mama" as if he wanted them to know who I was.  Pretty sweet of him to introduce me!

On Saturday we met up with the Wolfs and Johnsons and Jett had a lot of fun with Georgia and Eli.  First we took the kids to Holmes lake park to play and walk around the lake.  Then we picked up dinner and hung out on our deck all evening.   I always feel like the first night of the year with friends on the deck makes me happier than almost anything.  Seeing the kids interact was entertaining too!

Today (Sunday) we dyed Easter eggs at the Simaneks.  Hayden also hid eggs for Addie, Mason and Jett to try to find.  Jett wasn't very into either activity yet but he did participate.  I'm sure next year will be a different story.

This week I'm entering the third trimester.  It's very hard to believe we'll have another member in our family in less than three months.  I have been feeling good.  Not quite as good as last time but definitely nothing to complain about.  My main issues are getting comfortable at night, feeling short of breath, and peeing way more than any human should ever have to pee.  I feel like I'm carrying really low so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've definitely been getting more prepared.  I was telling a friend a few weeks ago that I hadn't bought anything for our baby girl yet.  Apparently that can change quickly.  In a matter  of a few weeks, this happened and there may or may not be a few more things on the way in the mail.

A few things were gifts and 1/2 of the stuff was Jett's so it's not quite as bad as it looks.  But it was exactly like I predicted (that once I started buying stuff I'd just want to buy more).

We have our 28 week appointment and an ultrasound tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some good pictures to share.  And more importantly, we are hoping for a good report.  We've been getting really excited about seeing her again!
